monday

This woman plunked herself down in a chair at Starbucks and, since body language is everything in figure drawing, I knew I had to draw her quick as I could. This is on Yuppo paper which is smooth like finger paint paper. It gives a great effect with watercolour, which I added at home.

The weekly Daily Paintworks Challenge really forces me to experiment. This week: use rectangular brush strokes only, changing the colour each time, for a landscape painting.

Two is for mirth

soda pop

I enjoy working with the 'twice as long as it is wide' (or vice versa) canvas size.  It makes for challenging compositions.

Peter's Portrait

I'm back into watercolour lately, so I brought it to my Life Drawing session. I loved painting the dark sweater with watercolour.  Soooo different than how I would have painted it in oil!

I jumped way out of my comfort zone to draw from my imagination, with the heavy rain clouds as my inspiration.

Going to Italy in September (Yippee!), so I'm trying to find the right pen to sketch with, an ongoing search for every artist.  I think I'll bring the purple water-soluble Pilot Fineliner and the fine black Sharpie.
