This striking fellow has a soft familiar morning call. He is the first love of many bird enthusiasts (and he knows it!). He loves winter, enjoys cryptic crosswords, and is a master at directing traffic.

  22. I am enjoying the bird series very much... wish we had Cardinals over here... but we are lucky with what we have.. a sulphur crested cockatoo is sitting on the fence outside my window as I type... boy is he loud!!! lucky he is so gorgeous...xx

  28. I loved your waxwing, and this cardinal too. I see movement in this picture - like the bird is singing as we watch. It's like you caught him in mid note. Love cardinals, and the way they almost always appear in pairs or families.
