mild

SOLD

It was a beautiful mild day yesterday so, I took a long walk over to the Saturday Morning Life Drawing Session. The model was wonderfully calm and all the artists were pleased with the lovely weather so, all in all it was a very relaxed atmosphere. Wonderful mood to be in to paint!

portrait practise

nfs
I recently saw Ralph Fiennes' film called "The Invisible Woman" in which he played Charles Dickens. So, I decided to do some portrait practise from a photo of the real Charles Dickens. He had lots of hair and a long beard, both of which were challenging (and fun) to paint.

at this moment in time

$50 - 5x7" with 8x10"mat.
I really went for it with thick watercolour paint on this one, allowing the pink of her headband to drip into her dark hair. I also turned the woman on the left from brunette to blonde to lighten things up.

Also... I just painted these green apples and pomegranates, called "know inside out." for a friend.

many moons ago

SOLD

My goal was to put down a gestural loose drawing with my charcoal pencil, then add lots of colourful paint. I thought they looked like planets circling around a light! Thanks Daily Paintworks Citrus Challenge.

If you do not want to purchase through Etsy, email me for a Daily Paintworks link instead. : )

Tea on Tuesday

$50 - 5"x7"painting with 8"x10"mat.
I used a slightly different approach with line in this cafe setting. Minimal and messy!

I googled "people fencing" under images, got my newsprint pad and a charcoal pencil and had some fun!

6 orange knitted mittens

SOLD

This woman was wearing orange knitted mittens and so was her dog! I think she must have knit them herself, unless the stores sell matching dog/people mitts now... So cute!
$50 - 5"x7"painting with 8"x10"matt.

I loved drawing and painting this! I was very selective with the amount of line and colour I used. Perfect for the Daily Paintwork's Snow Challenge.

door number three

I really loved doing the line drawing for this scene. I'm still working with a drawn frame, but letting the image emerge from it in places.

breeze

I chose the word 'breeze' and used lace and twink to draw this week's Zentangle Challenge#150-one little word. I'm finally figuring out how to do Zentangles that suit the way that I draw. I prefer this looser, messier and lighter one pictured above. My first attempt is pictured below, which I like, but is not the way I like to draw.

a quiet moment

$50 - 5"x7"painting with 8"x10"mat.
This time I tried to capture a quiet moment in the conversation. I've enjoyed this little series of two people talking. Tomorrow, onto something new...!

talk to

SOLD

My series of two people in conversation continues. Again, trying to capture body language and not get caught up with portrait. Also aiming for an energetic line and lots of colour!
