okey-dokey

SOLD
5x7" original - watercolour and charcoal pencil.
This little hedgehog is trying to escape. Or that's what I thought... Turns out he was on his way to his new home. He was purchased as soon as I posted him on Instagram! And I found the perfect purple frame for him, to match his pink belly. ; )

makin' shadows!

HAPPY GROUNDHOG DAY!

This is a little cartoon I've had in my head for a few years. It was one of my New Year's Resolutions to get it onto paper this year!

the road less travelled

$60 - 5x7"watercolour painting with 8x10"mat
I created this painting based on sketches of trees in my sketchbook. So, I guess that makes it my first imaginary landscape. I concentrated on reproducing the trees interesting shapes then added lots of cobalt violet and splatters!

These two flowers fell into each other as soon as I put them in water, like a couple of star-crossed lovers. ; )

stroll

$60 - 5x7"painting with 8x10"mat.
I tried some new paper for this one. Cold-Pressed! Very rare for me, since I love hot-pressed watercolour paper. I also bought a few new brushes so playing around with them too. I had a great time painting these two friends. : )
p.s. - just a reminder, all paintings will be shipped when I return, on Aug. 8th. See you in August!

in the stars

$60 - 7x5"painting with 10x8"mat
Normally this time of year I am painting snowscapes, which I love. Especially city street scenes with snow. However, with this crazy mild snow-less winter we are having, I haven't had a chance. So, instead I am really enjoying setting up still lifes and working in the studio.  The challenge here was to make a nice dark background to offset the lovely white flowers.

stage whisper

This painting is now framed.
$100 - 8x10"watercolour painting I really enjoyed working in studio with this little set up! Red flowers are tough to do in watercolour, they can get a bit heavy and dead pretty quick if I'm not careful. Very pleased with this one. : )

in the swim of things

SOLD

Another polar bear! I rarely do a wash over an entire painting but I thought I'd give it a go with this one.

arrive

SOLD

I recently rediscovered a wonderful colour called Magenta. I say rediscovered because, I had it on my palette years ago and replaced it somewhere along the road. My palette is always changing and putting this lovely purple back into the picture is, so far, great! : )

Portrait Pals

At our last portrait drawing session, we did something new! Instead of one artist volunteering to be the portrait model for the night, we got in groups of three and sat for 30 minutes each. It was great to be able to sit so close to the model. We were all (30 artists) very happy with the new plan. : )

extra butter

The Daily Paintworks Challenge was a blast this week! So cute. I used the photo supplied and just stretched out the shadows. I never would have painted this subject without the challenge. The popcorn pieces are like little statues. : )

Sketching Sidney

I heart donkeys!! They are a bit rough around the edges, kinda unpredictable and they might even dare to bite you. So cute!!

I'm loving these new artist pens. They are water soluble, so anything goes once I add a splash of water and some watercolour paint!

train ride on a rainy day

SOLD
This is the second painting of my train ride series. The lines get a little 'train shaky' as I draw them, and I try to keep that energy with watercolour once I add paint in my studio.
$60 - 8x10"painting. Ready for an 11x14"frame.
