I got to indulge in my favourite colour... again! Opera Pink (yummy), which I floated onto the page next to some warm reds. Then, all those cool greens and blues in the jar, those floaty bits, so abstract and fun to paint. Yummy, yummy, yummy!

midnight candle
$100 - 6x8" original oil painting on 3/4" panel.
Happy New Year's Eve Y'all.
I've painted a candlelit still-life a few times and I just love the contrasts it creates.

SOLD
Starting bid $70 - 6x6" oil painting with 1" deep painted sides.
For my latest still life, I started to fill this jar with flowers and after one, I just stopped. It looked so confident - a perfect statement for this difficult time. I know it's hard to be motivated when there's so much time at home but I hope you are all finding some creative time. It might just push you through it. x

Viridian Opera
Well, this one doesn't look anything like the model... but I sure had fun messing around with a green and pink palette. I used Viridian and Opera which make a lovely purple. I added dashes of Cadmium Red just to warm it up a bit.

I really enjoyed working in studio with this little set up! Red flowers are tough to do in watercolour, they can get a bit heavy and dead pretty quick if I'm not careful. Very pleased with this one. : )close ups! -

back on track
A friend of mine at Trafalgar asked me to sit at their Italy Tour promotional booth and be a "Venetian painter", like on the streets in Italy. It was so fun! A few people came right up and said hello but mostly they just peeked over my shoulder.

Tangerine mani and a Tango pedi
The Daily Paintworks Challenge this week is to use the colour Tangerine Tango. I'm not sure how this painting evolved in my brain... but this is what I came up with...

red stripes
One of my New Year's Drawing Resolutions is to do some fabric studies. I need the practice since, at life drawing there is always fabric draped behind the model which can be just as intimidating as the figure.
