This "little gateway" was painted on location when a group of friends and I went out to one of my favourite parks. The simple 3 logs that make up an entrance are so beautiful. There is just something gentle about it's construction. Once I drew it I, of course, added lots (and lots) of colour.

We had a new model at life drawing and she gave off so much energy, despite sitting perfectly still(!). It's funny how some models are so dynamic and alive, while not moving a muscle. Incredible really. Also, it was nice to bring out the watercolours! ; )

This model was so gracious. It's funny, models can be perfectly still and be in their own zone but still be giving so much energy to the artists.

Well, I've been dabbling in oil and gouache and I gotta say, I've sure missed watercolour. It's been fun experimenting and I've learned loads, but I'll always return to this beautiful, clean, expressive medium. This charming little set up seemed like the perfect arrangement as we near spring! : )
