PAINT ALONG WITH ME 

in this Zoom class we will explore snowscapes

using a practical approach

with lots of helpful tips!

We will paint many objects that can be found in a city setting,

like pedestrians, bicycles, dog walkers, trees, and cars,

all with snow on them!

Using white gouache and lots of colourful snow shadows,

you'll learn lots of tips to add to your own style of painting. 

Some watercolour experience is suggested.

(I'll use 6B pencil and artist quality watercolour paints).

on Fluid Hot-Pressed Watercolour Paper.

White Gouache

ALSO, I will supply Photos for you to work from but I do encourage you to find some of your own. Any cityscape objects like cars, bicycles and even fire hydrants,  that you'd like to paint and add to your own future cityscape paintings.

A Zoom monitor as well as an iPad or the photos printed out to work from.

It's snowing like crazy here in Toronto! Fortunately, it's been mild, so it's the fun kind of snow... sleigh day snow! The fire escape was fun to paint. It is one of the few fire escapes on the houses around here. (I may have overdrawn it, but it's still cool looking). ; )

Well, I may have over bought at the flower shop. Hee hee. So, I grabbed two little cups and filled 'em up. I made sure the cups, (well I guess one is a vase) were different. I love the dark one. It's such an interesting shape - one of my faves.

Abby the Mouse has the cutest whiskers ever! Not to mention her adorable pink nose. Finger puppets are so fun and, it turns out, a blast to paint. I'm using bright contrasting colours for my backgrounds for this series. My hand studies continue with my little puppet collection helping me out. Sides painted.

Halloween Fun!

 

Another great Zoom Portrait Sessions. WooHoo! I think the whole group of artists, who pose for each other for 20 minutes, are all getting really good. This weekly practise is really paying off. Everyone has improved!! And today, being Halloween, the costumes made things super fun. Happy Halloween Y'all!!

In this Zoom Online Class we will explore flowers with watercolour.

We'll draw and paint together, learning about composition, 

blocking-in, the importance of warm and cool colours, 

keeping shapes strong and finally, adding a simple background 

for a clean bright flower painting.

The class includes a PDF at the end!

 

Some Watercolour Painting experience is suggested.

Please be familiar with Zoom before attending.

FLOWERS

You will need just a few flowers (4-5), both light and dark. 

The flowers can be real or fake. Nothing elaborate.

Light your little set up from the left - a desk lamp source is fine.

We are using the flowers as a jumping off point.

PAINTING SUPPLIES

 PAPER

I'll be using Fluid 9x12" Hot-Pressed Paper. 

The paint sits differently on this paper. 

I do not use Arches Brand of Hot-Pressed. 

I recommend Fluid Hot-Pressed Paper for this class. 

PAINT

I use Winsor & Newton and/or Holbein Tube Paints that are squeezed out and dry on my Winsor & Newton Cotman Compact Travel Set 14 pan palette.

Permanent Rose (Rose Madder Genuine or Aliz. Crimson)

Cad. Red

Opera Pink

Cerulean Blue

Ultramarine Blue

Use the brushes you like and are familiar with.

I use synthetic pointy brushes sizes 6, 8 and 10.
