I looooved painting this one. The green apples (Granny) and peppers (Serrano) make up the nutty title... I couldn't help myself. This overhead flat lay composition is very interesting and new for me. Loosey-goosey was at the top of my list of things to accomplish with this colourful still life. I love the splish-splash of watercolour, something oil just doesn't offer. 

Having painted in oil for a while now, I realize how difficult making grey is with watercolour. I think it might be easier with oil. Not easy (!), but  easier. : )

I’m very happy with the end result of this one, with all the cool green light bouncing around. I really wanted to do the model justice. I’m adding lots of colour on the light side, like I do with my watercolours, and still keeping it harmonious. Each portrait really is it's own learning process. 🙋🏻
