Watercolour Portrait Sketch

Here's another piece I did during the Janet Rogers workshop. My goal for the three days was to see shapes. I'm a line and colour artist and, knowing how important it is to be able to make a clean decisive shape, I stuck with the program. ; )

Toronto Watercolour Society - Linda Kemp Workshop

Well, here is my first ever attempt at Negative Painting. I spent the weekend taking a  2 Day Toronto Watercolour Society Workshop with the amazing Linda Kemp. She is a fantastic teacher. We did lots of helpful exercises. Then we did a colourful wet-in-wet wash on our 140b cold-pressed paper, using fresh tube paints, and painted AROUND the positive shapes (berries). Basically, paint the space between the braches, not the branches. It really stretches your artistic vision.

If you ever get a chance to take a class with her, take it!
Happy Painting Everyone!

This one was a real blast to paint! I had to be very careful with placement and the amount of splatters and blobs!
I'm off for the rest of July! I may blog from vacation but if not, see you in August!

Four

$80 - 8x10"painting
Continuing with my abstract art and really enjoying it! I always draw first then add watercolour paint however, this style has me jumping between drawing and painting... painting and drawing... just mixing it up.
