it's a new year

$60 - 5x7"original gouache painting with 8x10"mat

The way the holidays fell this year, it seems like there's nothing but time! Time to paint. I'm enjoying switching between watercolour and gouache. I think the change helps me understand each of them better... make sense? : )
p.s. this painting has a nice white border around it.

troublemaker

$60 - 5x7" watercolour painting with 8x10"mat
The Owl Festival happens every year during the first weekend in March. They are such fascinating birds with lots of personality. But, like this little troublemaker, they mean business!
I filled a page of my sketchbook before painting this one.

past the hot dog stand

$40 - 5x7"painting with 8x10"mat
The walking while drawing sketches are so fun to do. I just draw what I see, impulsively, and hope it works out. Sometimes it does... sometimes it doesn't. Either way the line is nice and loose. At home, I add fresh watercolour.

heap

Back outside for some more plein-air painting. This pile of logs was a real challenge, especially since the sun seemed to disappear just as I got started!

12 Across "One _ at a Time"

SOLD

This older man sat quite still, in his summer attire, concentrating on his crossword puzzle. Just long enough for me to capture his wonderful character.

biscuit

SOLD

I was attracted to the long shadow this little Yorkshire Terrier cast... and his adorable back leg is up, leaving a space before his shadow starts.
