  3. One of my best days fishing consisted of a kingfisher setting up perch on the end of my rod and returning from each fishing trip to settle again. I caught nothing. Once again you make me smile.

  15. Such a colourful, laid-back kingfisher.
    I've always loved the title of Gerald Manley Hopkins poem 'As Kingfishers Catch Fire' (which has nothing to do with kingfishers, but it does describe that wonderful flash of colour as they fly), and this painting really seems to fit the title. Love it.

  18. Hi Nora - if you liked 'As Kingfishers Catch Fire', try 'Pied Beauty' by G M Hopkins. I learnt it at school and it is one of my favourite poems - painting with poetry. As you say, complex but so descriptive. Thanks for your always encouraging comments.
