$100 - 6x6" original oil painting on 1" deep panel.
I love back lighting! The pink flowers are so delicate that the light bounced right through them, while the lemon showed the light bouncing back onto it. So fun! Sides are painted grey.
The #artdare challenge yesterday (on Instagram) was "polka dots" so I painted these cute friends on some pretty gift wrap paper. I loved painting the blues in the light vs. the blues in the shadow. The auction for this piece is 7 days, over at Daily Paintworks. : )
It's hard to tell, but the sides are painted the same pink as the background.
I've been promoting Meat Free Mondays, sometimes called Meatless Mondays, on my social media. It's a popular slogan asking people to consider having vegetarian meals at least one day a week. I thought these cute sketches of cows, pigs and chickens would help spread the word!
Here's another one from the day we all got the giggles. You wouldn't know it to look at the painting, but this fellow artist barely sat still with all the silliness happening that day. 😀
$90 - 6x6" original oil painting on 1" deep panel.
The beautiful Husky has become so popular in the last 5 years. I hadn't seen one in years, not since I was a girl growing up in Calgary where there were lots of them. Then one day in downtown Toronto I saw one! And then two... and then three...! Now I see one every week. I adore the distinctive shapes of colour on their lovely faces. One of my favourite dog breed ever!
$100 - 6x6" original oil painting on 1"deep wooden panel.
I feel I'm really going in the right direction with this one. We all got the giggles during the portrait session. In fact, there was a bit of a sing-a-long happening! Perhaps the silly atmosphere enabled me to paint without 'thinking'.
Well, I'm super duper happy about receiving the People's Choice Award at the Life Drawing Art Show yesterday!! Lots of people showed up, despite the freezing cold, so thanks to all those who came by and said Hi! The ice sculptures happening across the way were a nice surprise to everyone's day!
Also... I sold one. A fellow artist bought this one during the hanging of the show. It's great to see some red dots. There were about 10 by the end of the opening. The show is still happening until March 1st!
I thought I'd share it here for those of you who aren't 'into' Instagram.
I bought this lovely red glass fishing float over the holidays. It's a tough object to pair this another still life object but somehow this little fish made the cut.
So, I had this pink haired portrait but it just didn't have enough 'oomph'. (I may try painting it in oil again.) In the meantime...
