Follow the Leader 8x12" - OIL

Hello. I've been busy painting fishies! So cute and so much fun. I love using oil paint to show off the colourful fish and the dark/light contrasts in the ocean. An awesome challenge! Questions? ... just ask - nora904@yahoo.com

Mr. Lionfish

$90 - 6x6" original oil painting on 1/8" panel.
Well! The great thing about being in an art group that has weekly challenges is... when the topic is FISH... this happens! I would never have thought to paint this fella' and I had the most awesome time doing so. I mean, he's even got polka dots!
p.s. I think Mr. Lionfish had this expression on his face well before March 15, 2020.

Fishing - Paint Over

Here's my last Instagram story.
I thought I'd share it here for those of you who aren't 'into' Instagram.
I bought this lovely red glass fishing float over the holidays. It's a tough object to pair this another still life object but somehow this little fish made the cut.
So, I had this pink haired portrait but it just didn't have enough 'oomph'. (I may try painting it in oil again.) In the meantime...
 HERE'S THE FINAL PAINTING ; )

Seahorse Charlie aka Magic Man

$60 - 5x7"original watercolour painting with 8x10"mat

Seahorse Charlie aka 'Magic Man':
Charlie, with eyes wide open, floats through the seagrass beds looking for that special someone. Last week he told you about himself. Well, he's ready to tell you more. Charlie is a professional magician. He can move his chameleon like eyes independently of each other! Also, his camouflage ability enables him to change colours abracadabra. And, he can hold his breath underwater for... a really long time. He could magically be yours, just link up through PayPal. ; )

Seahorse Sally

$60 - 5x7"original watercolour painting with 8x10"mat

Seahorse Sally: A passionate swimmer, Sally enjoys exploring tropical coastlines, chocolate mousse with real whipped cream and blowing bubbles. She is always seen wearing her favourite, but modest, coronet. Sally will happily reside in any room of your home, perhaps a blue bathroom for a lovely contrast with her warm orange tones. And really, who's bathroom isn't blue. ; )

Seahorse Charlie

$60 - 5x7"original watercolour painting with 8x10"mat

Seahorse Charlie: Shy but intelligent, Charlie likes long swims in the sea, root beer floats and shimmering blue coral. He is hand painted and original, a real one-of-a-kind, who hopes to brighten up your days for a lifetime. Charlie is looking for a long term relationship with a serious art lover... like yourself. ; )

underwater

$60 - 5x7"original watercolour painting with 8x10"acid-free mat.
I found this awesome free reference photo at Pixabay.
For InkTober I've been painting animals and that means painting from photos, which has it's pros and cons. Otherwise all my work is painted from life.
The bonus is, finding a fun photo like this!

turtles and fishies

Next month I'm teaching a third session of classes for the Cawthra Art Group here in Toronto. They are enjoying my exploration of animal drawings lately and asked for a few classes about animal anatomy. Although somehow, last time I opened up my animal sketchbook, I ended up doing a page of turtles and fish! It was fun but I think we'll be stickin' with mammals : )

there's something fishy going on here...

This is my 2nd online painting challenge this week.
I had a lot of fun doing this Daily Paintworks Challenge which was to paint the same object from many perspectives with a time limit of 10 minutes each.
