the cat's away

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! Can you find the 3 mice?
I had a blast painting this because the subject allowed me to make a mess!

I've had a busy week and I've really missed painting. So, I thought I'd jump right back in with some hot peppers.

A few selective lines and a lot of colour flooded in for this view looking south on St. George towards Bloor Street.

the hotdog stand

SOLD

I started this drawing with the stop sign and worked my way up the tree to the hot dog stand. Suddenly a cyclist showed up so I quickly put him in.

Then I got a wood panel from the art store,
I lightly sanded the front and back.
I sprayed the painting 3 times with Krylon UV-Resistant Gloss, which is a clear acrylic coating. It is non-yellowing, moisture resistant and protects against UV light rays. Then I adhered the painting to the panel with non-toxic Weldbond.
This is the Krylon product that Aquabord (same company that makes Gessobord) recommends for watercolours that are not under glass.

I'm very happy with the professional look of presenting watercolour this way.

the window seat

Trying to think more about design as I sketch on location instead of just putting pen to paper and drawing immediately. Both ways have their advantages.
$150 - 9"x12" watercolour

Artists in Blogland

I was interviewed for Artists in Blogland on Wednesday. I'm really pleased with how beautifully it was put together. Thank you so much Heather and Marcia for finding me and taking the time to publish it!
Happy Creating Everyone.

a passing moment

Looking out the 3rd floor window to the morning passers below.

I've got my watercolour paintings adhered to supports now, just like Aquabord! Super happy with the way they look. They are open in the back and can be hung easily.
Kingfisher on 1" support
Maria Bennett Hock bought the Kookaburra I painted and she sure is happy with hers! It is moisture-resistant with a UV Gloss.

Moo.com and flickr

Yippee! I'm very happy with the postcards I ordered from Moo.com. The site is wonderful, reasonably priced and super easy to use. You can use your own images to order business cards, greeting cards, stickers, etc.
Also, I have started a flickr page that I'm using mostly for my sketches and line drawings. See the right side of my blog --->

lost in thought

I'm enjoying painting on this 6"x12" format. I gave this one to the model since, well... she asked nicely!
