I drew this with a charcoal pencil first then painted it with watercolour. The charcoal created a nice rich dark line that I really like and, happily, the charcoal did not smudge or wash out.

Wow, that was a real 50/50 split on the suggestions of how to crop this painting. I decided that a few extra people were cuter than a 'not so beautifully painted' sky. Thanks everyone for participating!

The good thing about a snowstorm is that everyone stays inside drinking tea! So, I had time to enjoy drawing. Unfortunately, the man in the front left before I took the picture. I added a line/frame, a knapsack on the bottom right and of course, my signature. (CLICK IMAGES TO ENLARGE).

Trying to think more about design as I sketch on location instead of just putting pen to paper and drawing immediately. Both ways have their advantages.
