with a spring in your step!

ORIGINAL WATERCOLOUR - $80

8x10" mat included. I recently touched up these little cuties and I'm much happier with them. Flowers always bring lots of colour and joy to a room. Loooove painting them.

Thanks for visiting my blog.

Paintings are availble at the awesome and safe online gallery DailyPaintworks.

HUNGRY CRITTERS

$80
5x7"original watercolour painting in 8x10"mat. 8x10"frames are easy to find. You may have one already!

I used one of my favourite colours, called Opera Pink, in the watermelon. It's a hot pink. Then I added dabs of warm cadmium red for contrast. Hmm... the hot pink should be called cold pink, since it's a cool colour. #heehee Anywho... I went for lots of contrasts in this piece. The cool and warm as well as dark and light. Raccoons are a blast to paint!

GOOD MORNING

OIL - $100

6x6" original oil painting on 3/4" deep cradled panel.

This morning bunch got the window seat!

After being so inspired by my last flower painting, I decided to get into the daily painting process again. So, off to the flower shop for this pretty bunch, all of whom say "good morning" to you. ; )

$100 -
6x8" cradled panel - original watercolour painting.
3/4"sides painted to match.
Watercolour on Cradled Panel! I'm so please that I was able to safely adhere the 5x7" watercolour painting on paper to a 6x8" cradled panel. It's ready to go (see photo below). I painted the panel orange, which I think really adds to it, and then sprayed it with a watercolour friendly varnish. No more glass. Phew.

Dragon Fruit!

I saw this dragon fruit in the grocery store and I thought... 'I could never paint that thing'! and then I thought... 'could I'? So, I took on the challenge and here are the results.

I love the 12x6" format. And I also love the 6x12" format. ; )

Painting the little seeds was like painting snowflakes, little radom dabs of paint.

They are $120 each or the set for $225. I think they look great together. Click here - Daily Paintworks for purchase info.

Here are some process pics. Enjoy and Thanks for looking.

life process

I was so inspired by the photo of these lovely wine red hellebores that, after painting them in watercolour for my last post, I decided to paint them again in oil. It was nice to paint the watercolour first then spring off in a slightly different direction for the oil. I think it encouraged a looser oil painting. Such pretty flowers.
Happy Easter Weekend Y'all!

nearby

$70 - 6x6" original oil painting with 1" painted sides.

Painting groups don't have to stop painting together just because of a virus. Artists friends everywhere are sharing photo references online and painting from home 'together'! A wonderful group I paint with began doing this. Each week we'll all paint from the same photos, then share our paintings via social media. It's nice to know fellow artists are nearby.

all together

$60 - 6x6" original oil painting on 1" deep panel.
I loved painting the little circles on the vase! This low strong lighting, (an idea I got from the awesome dailypainter Lisa Daria) is really cool. Such wonderful contrasts! Check out pics below...

bejeweled

SOLD
$90 - original 12x6" oil painting on 1"deep wooden panel

My second piece from the awesome Peggy's Cove (just south west of Halifax, Nova Scotia.) I titled it 'bejeweled' since there are so many hidden little wonders amongst the boats.
Below is a pic of my thumbnail sketch done in charcoal pencil on newsprint. My thumbnails are usually actual size, so this sketch is also 12x6".

stand up to sit down

6x12" oil painting on 1"deep wooden panel.
When the model couldn't make it to our last portrait session, a fellow artist stood up to the occasion and sat for us. : )
I went for a high key palette (very light, like pastel colours) and really thought a lot about adding greys.
