This striking fellow has a soft familiar morning call. He is the first love of many bird enthusiasts (and he knows it!). He loves winter, enjoys cryptic crosswords, and is a master at directing traffic.

Love the look on his face, so natural.

ReplyDeleteAnother lovely bird painting, and I love the contrasts in color, the red is striking and the green is soft.
Love the 'bright spark'. He has such an air of having asked a question and waiting for the answer. I'm really enjoying your series of birds.

ReplyDeleteI loved your waxwing, and this cardinal too. I see movement in this picture - like the bird is singing as we watch. It's like you caught him in mid note. Love cardinals, and the way they almost always appear in pairs or families.
