I've decided that painting flowers is just as difficult, if not more so, than painting the human figure... and horses! Flowers are so abstract. I really tried to keep their expressive nature and their individuality without getting heavy handed.
$50 - 5"x7" original watercolour - includes 8"x10" matt.

Flowers are so challenging, but you won the challenge, dear Nora!
ReplyDeleteFlowers may be challenging, but you are a master at them! Another beautiful flower painting.
ReplyDeleteI agree, flowers can be difficult. Some need simplicity, others are complex and need a lot of layers and shadows. These flowers are lovely.
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful flowers, Nora. So plump and expressive. Nothing wrong with them at all.
ReplyDeleteLovely flowers Nora. And you have managed to keep your style even if the motiv is different. Love that!
ReplyDeleteNora, you got wonderful form and beautiful color. I think it comes with many, many paintings which you have done.
ReplyDeleteYour art work, is like a breath of fresh air.
ReplyDeleteThank you
Ola,Lindo blog,Lindíssimas pinturas.Parabens e meu grande abraço.Su
ReplyDeleteAll your work is enticing, Nora. These flowers are beautiful in color and form. Did you see that Jo M. has honored you with trying to emulate your style for the DPW challenge this week? I am going to try also, to do a gesture sketch with watercolor. I didn't realize that you draw with a mechanical pencil first. When you have the ink lines, is that over the pencil and somewhat simplified, before you add the watercolor?
ReplyDeleteI think you did a beautiful job of these flowers, Nora.!
ReplyDeleteYou make it look easy; these are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteBut I do agree - flowers can be very difficult. Love your colors too!
You are the master! Lovely.
ReplyDeleteA quick question as a fellow BLOGGER using BLOGGER. Are you being inudated with advertizements all of a sudden on your blog? I am and its very annyoying. Looking to learn how to get rid of them.
I think they are difficult but you would never know it when looking at these. Fresh and light as usual but nothing boring about your paintings. They still bring me joy.
ReplyDeleteAny subject you choose , you do well!
ReplyDeleteYour flowers breath and glow! <3
ReplyDeleteBeautiful saturation of color, Nora! So pretty!
ReplyDeleteAs always the colours are so beautiful and the arrangement perfect.
ReplyDeleteYou make painting flowers look so easy - the simplicity of the difficult, but I agree they are so difficult. At least you can ask a model to stand up straight again please, but when the flower wants to droop a bit or twist a little it just never listens to you. You must work very quickly to get that just fresh look that makes your paintings so lovely.
Bellisimas flores con una frescura sinigual.Felicitaciones!!!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful bouquet Nora!
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are full of life and light, nothing heavy handed about this beautiful painting at all!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty Nora! :0)
ReplyDeleteLOVE, LOVE your flowers! GREAT job.

Congratulations on the sale - and I do agree. Nothing is more difficult than trying to capture all the little secret beauties of flowers in paint. Love these - their form and color is so expressive!
ReplyDeleteOlá Nora!
ReplyDeleteGosto muito de flores e de pintá-las também. Adorei este teu trabalho pois conseguiste dar alma, vida e alegria a estas flores no papel.
Um abraço amigo.

Very abstract and so many colors and hues. They put flesh to shame... and I love painting the figure!
ReplyDeleteBoy, you are so right! I don't know if I'll ever even attempt a horse!
ReplyDeleteOne of the things I love about your work, Nora, is how juicy it is. You always achieve the wet look that usually can only be achieved when we use yupo paper...even when you're using regular watercolor paper. It's such fun, and so inspiring, following your blog. I really enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you! It's so difficult to paint flowers. I think you've done it well.
