Soda Pop Cans are so fun and colourful. I really love painting them. It's an original subject for a still life I know, but just goes to show, everything wants to be painted! ; )

16x20"original watercolour painting

Well, at our Sunday portrait session at the Don Valley Art Club, a fellow artist wore this lovely scarf over her head. I intended to paint it however, since each sitting is only 25 minutes, I didn't get to it in time. Now I'm not sure if I should paint it. I love the painting as it is. Then again, the scarf was quite beautiful and I have a photo to work. But, it's never the same as from life. Hmmm. Thoughts?

This lovely life model had a beautiful stillness about her, that I hope I captured. I was a bit nervous when I chose the lime green contrasting background but now I'm glad I went for it. ; )

Yesterday's model was just lovely. It was our first week back in the new year and it was a great way to kick things off. Here are a few details of her portrait and hair. Hair is tricky! Big brush, confident strokes and leave it alone! ; )

a friendly face

When I saw this face I knew I had to paint him. I really enjoyed painting his green yellow eyes and all of that mane. I didn't realize that the farther back the mane goes, the darker it gets. Such a beautiful animal. Ferocious, yet such a warm likeable face.

 Today, with my 8x10" sketchbook, I finished a page of little pencil portraits.
And over the holidays, I had fun sketching some elephants. (Baby elephants are so frickin' cute!)
