life drawing studies

Last night's life drawing class. I worked with a 6B pencil and then added cadmium red and mineral purple to these 5 minute poses. I think I prefer them with a little bit of wild splatter (top one), it compliments the gesture aspect.

  1. Dear Nora, I'm a little behind in my visits to friends blog and I see a great amount of interesting work, fresh and funny! Compliments for the show! Even just looking at your photo...you are beautiful and charming like your watercolors!

  2. As usual you read and capture things with a few lines, well done.

  3. It is amazing the character in these simple little sketches - Well, I say simple, but of course they are not! But you manage to make them look effortless and so they have such a wonderful, lively feel about them :0)

  5. Great poses. You have captured so much in just 5 minutes. I love the splatter effect on the first one.

  6. Wow! Hard to believe these are 5 minute poses. I've done 5 minute poses and they didn't even look close to the model..a great practice! (I failed!) Great job on these, Nora!!

  7. These are great! I would love to take a figure drawing class. How did you handle the first time with the nude model? Was it awkward at all? Your work here is wonderful!

  8. Wow, you make watercolor painting look so much fun and easy and I know it's not. I have tried and tried and fail. My last IF post for "Shine" looks like an oil painting instead of watercolor. Yours is the classic watercolor I have known and desire. I just can't do it.

  11. Nora:

Thanks for visiting Chubby Chatterbox and for pressing the Join button. You are most welcome. I'm a former professional illustrator and art instructor and I'm greatly impressed with your watercolor skills. I always found watercolor to be a very unforgiving medium but you manage to keep your work fresh and lively. Quite an achievement. Take care.

  16. Love the way the watercolor just gives a loose impression of Color and figure!

  17. Stunning work, Nora. I enjoy your gentle touch. To me there's something infinitely soothing in watercolor. The way it flows, or splatters if you prefer.

  25. Hello Nora:) You did a great job on both of them. Even without the splettering it would be wonderful! At least you don't paint the most beautiful queens of the world but just ordinary people like you and me (the belly from the first looks familiar :) ) I love your work Nora!

  29. Ciao Nora,
