Toronto Watercolour Society - Linda Kemp Workshop

Well, here is my first ever attempt at Negative Painting. I spent the weekend taking a  2 Day Toronto Watercolour Society Workshop with the amazing Linda Kemp. She is a fantastic teacher. We did lots of helpful exercises. Then we did a colourful wet-in-wet wash on our 140b cold-pressed paper, using fresh tube paints, and painted AROUND the positive shapes (berries). Basically, paint the space between the braches, not the branches. It really stretches your artistic vision.

If you ever get a chance to take a class with her, take it!
Happy Painting Everyone!

  1. I love the colours you used in your painting Nora. I happen to have a book by Linda Kemp on negative painting, getting my head around the concept was tricky but the book helped a lot!
