half sweet hot chocolate

Today I drew on 8"x10" watercolour paper instead of the usual discreet 5"x7" pad. Everyone was so involved with their book, computer or friends, they still didn't notice me drawing them!

  2. Love this scene! Seems like you were the only one to take a look and see what was happening around you. You're right. With computers, mobile phones and the internet, everyone is just too busy to look up. A bonus for the artist! ;-)

  8. Oh this is fabulous Nora. So great to meet you via this magical world of Blogland. I love the detail you captured. I'm guessing you must have had to do this pretty quickly so I am even more impressed!

  9. I so admire your ability to do this in public without suffering from the melt-downs that I do! And it is a lovely piece of work! I love the loose splashes of colour. It's full of life! :0)

  10. Your painting has put me there, right in the scene with you. I can just see how people were engrossed in their own worlds. It must have been wonderful to sit there and paint them without them knowing. You have great control of your colours, as always Nora, with rich washes blending so easily without blooming....very good control.

  11. Wow, that's great! I really admire your ability to so quickly capture the essence of a scene like this! I had a friend tell me that he will not consider himself a true artist until he can do that: draw from life around him and get the images and feeling of the moment onto the paper without a second thought. Beautiful work from a talented artist!

  14. What a fun drawing, you have captured the feel of the place. I can draw outside, since I wear those awful looking mirror sunglasses and nobody feels like I am staring, but I feel silly wearing them inside ;)

  20. I absolutely love how you use your watercolors, blending them so naturally and beautifully. And that really us funny about how nowadays everyone's so involved in what they're doing they just don't look up!

  26. Thanks so much for coming over to visit my blog the other day. I love finding new artists to visit, and your work is really lovely. I like that you go out and do plein air painting. I also see you follow Joan Sicignano who is a friend of mine here on Long Island. I am going to add you to the blogs I follow.
