Border Collies

My main objective here was to get colour in the darks while keeping them transparent. I worked from a photo reference, which is not the way I usually paint, but I'm happy with the results.

  1. Hi Nora, You have captured them so well without over working, not easy. Love it.

  2. Hi Nora!... Your "Border Boys" are well executed and you certainly achieved your objective! Great light and dark contrast throughout! Well done!

You can still use photo reference to guide your painting process to your benefit... as long as it doesn't become a crutch.

Some people even project the image... which to me signals their own acknowledgement that they can't draw... or are lazy.

At the very least... I feel that they are deceitful in doing so... to themselves and the viewer. Different strokes...choices! Not mine though.

Stay your course with your life work Nora... both inside and outside the studio... and your work will continue to grow as is evident here!

    Good Painting and Sketching!
    Warmest regards,
    Bruce
