think it through

This is my third 'Cafe Moment' in this style. I've been working on adding pattern and shading to my drawing, without obliterating the contour line.

Knitting for New York

I drew this one with a charcoal pencil. I like that the watercolour doesn't hide the line as much as it can with a 2B pencil. I'm really trying to keep my watercolour paintings 'about line'.

Meanwhile, I'm off to New York!! Super excited about it. Should go more often since it's only an hour flight!
See you next week.

Border Collies

My main objective here was to get colour in the darks while keeping them transparent. I worked from a photo reference, which is not the way I usually paint, but I'm happy with the results.

I jumped way out of my comfort zone to draw from my imagination, with the heavy rain clouds as my inspiration.

The Painting Class

I often use watercolour at my Monday night figure painting session.  I enjoy painting the artists as well as the model to add context to the piece. I love drawing, and I miss it when I've been working in oil.
