$80 - 8x10"watercolour painting
Well, this is the last hurrah, or at least the last still life set up for the year. The group I paint with doesn't reconvene until the new year. Hopefully, I'll set up some small still lifes on my own over the holidays. : )

Finally! Lots of snow for me to paint! I love painting snow, it's nice and 'contrasty'.

past the hot dog stand
The walking while drawing sketches are so fun to do. I just draw what I see, impulsively, and hope it works out. Sometimes it does... sometimes it doesn't. Either way the line is nice and loose. At home, I add fresh watercolour.

Still pluggin' away and trying to find my place in the world of portraiture!

past the music shop
$40 - 5x7"painting with 8x10"mat
Another walking and drawing sketch with my Micron purple Brush Pen. I really had to keep the wash of watercolour loose to match the line. I love the originality of this kind of drawing.Wednesday, November 30, 2016
Willow dale Group of Artists Portrait Session
On Tuesday nights, at the Willowdale Group of Artists, the artists pose for each other for 40 minutes each (two sessions of 20). It's a great way to get lots of portrait practise so, if you belong to an art group, I highly recommend this approach. : )
Very happy with this one. Just had to touch up the bottom of his beard with pencil line when I got home.

afternoon stroll
$40 - 5x7"painting with 8x10"mat
Well, my new Micron purple Brush Pen is now my new favourite drawing tool. Also, I'm revisiting my 'walking while drawing' idea. If people can text and walk, why can't I draw and walk! ; )
Here are some close-ups.

slight smile
A second piece from the same life drawing class earlier this week. I'm trying out new watercolour paper which is still the hot-pressed, but it's from Fabriano. It's good because, as usual, the colours sit on top of the paper however, it really won't take a second wash of colour... So, one wash of colour and get out of there! ; )

great show!
Very happy with how my table looked this year. : )
Thanks so much to all those that came by and said Hi. And I'm glad the mid-day rain didn't keep away the steady stream of people, and sales. : )
And who knew that my Rudolph X-mas cards would be such a hit.
See you at the same show next year! : )

I couldn't resist choosing this picture from the sketchy app, which provides photos to work from, since her pink hair is so cool!

Robert Library, University of Toronto.
On Sunday, the Toronto Urban Sketchers (TOUSK) went out sketching at Robarts Library. This University building is a very interesting structure. In fact, there is a constant discussion amongst Torontonians on whether it's shaped like a turkey, a peacock or a turtle! So, we planned to draw it. Unfortunately very cold weather drove us inside. Well, maybe not 'unfortunately' since I managed to do these sketches.
Students didn't mind/notice and I don't think there is enough of a resemblance to anyone to cause offence. ; )
I'm one of the TOUSK correspondents. Check out our blog! - here
