$80 - 5x7" original watercolour painting in 8x10"mat

This painting has two things that people do that I just love - wearing their glasses on their head and throwing a sweater over their shoulders like a tennis player. Both are so cute!

I've been away from my blog for awhile. But, being newly inspired to continue my 'In Conversation' watercolour series, of two people talking (no devices!), I'm happily back at it!

$160 - 8x10" original oil painting on panel
Another Two-Colour Palette! For this wonderful model, (thanks RawUmberStudios for the YouTube paintalongs), I chose Pyrrole Red and Cerulean Blue. I love dark blue with red. The Pyrrole is a Cobra oil brand and it's basically a warm Cadmium Red. Here are some palette pics.

When I saw the wonderful red scarf on her head, I knew I just had to paint her. And glasses to match! Such a great expression too.
Thanks for checkin' out my blog. Cheers and Be Well. ; )

$90 - 5x7" original oil painting on 1/8" panel.

I loved painting these big pink glasses! And her expression is so cute. Thanks again to the awesome sktchy app for providing photos for all of us artist to paint from. Especially during these difficult times when portrait sessions are on hold.

jewels

$80 - 5x7"original watercolour painting with 8x10"mat
This is my second recent portrait with a model wearing sunglasses. It's fun painting eyes behind colourful glass!
Here's the original sketch.

thoughtful

  $60 - 5x7"gouache painting
Another small colourful painting to warm up the nooks and crannies of your home.  It's actually quite difficult to title portrait paintings. I had to give this one a lot of thought... which lead me to 'thoughtful'. ; )

it's a new year

$60 - 5x7"original gouache painting with 8x10"mat

The way the holidays fell this year, it seems like there's nothing but time! Time to paint. I'm enjoying switching between watercolour and gouache. I think the change helps me understand each of them better... make sense? : )
p.s. this painting has a nice white border around it.

Gouache Portraits

SOLD
$150 - 5x7"original gouache painting in warm brown 8x10" wooden frame.
Here are my latest two gouache portraits. I'm very happy with the one above.  Since it's from a photo from the sktchy app I had more time to spend on it (compared to our 25min sittings at the art club.)
There's a slide show of this one on my Instagram page if you want to check it out!

tortoise shell glasses and a grey cat

$100 - 8x10"original watercolour painting

I love the way this portrait, or should I say portraits, asks the viewer to move their eyes back and forth from the woman to the cat, to the woman, to the cat, to the woman... well you get the idea. ; )

portrait study of a friendly face

11x14" original watercolour painting

It's been a very busy summer so, I haven't been painting as much as I'd like. However, on Sunday, I managed to make it over to the Don Valley Art Club for the portrait session. I was happy to capture this 25 minute study of a fellow artist, and a friendly face. : )

far and away

At our group portrait drawing session, the lovely Brenda sat perfectly still for us. It's my turn to sit for the group next. It's always fun to see 20 paintings of yourself.
