in time

$100 - 6x6" original oil painting on 1" deep panel. Sides painted to match.

My flowers in a glass series continues. I love the challenge of this idea. The toughest part is actually keeping the exterior, out the window, all the same value. Of course, the real stars are the flowers, in water and able to breath but not quite free. Check out my facebook page or my Instagram page to see the time lapse film of the painting!

email me for Canadian Dollar Link. : )

cutie-patootie border collie

$70 ≈5x5" original oil painting with 1" deep painted sides
My favourite dog is the awesome intelligent border collie!
Today, while looking for a portrait to paint, I found a picture of a border collie that had mistakenly made it's way into the people portrait folder. Then I thought... Hmm... maybe it wasn't a mistake. Obviously she was asking to be painted.

I was so inspired by the photo of these lovely wine red hellebores that, after painting them in watercolour for my last post, I decided to paint them again in oil. It was nice to paint the watercolour first then spring off in a slightly different direction for the oil. I think it encouraged a looser oil painting. Such pretty flowers.
Happy Easter Weekend Y'all!

purple hellebores

5x7" original watercolour painting with 8x10" acid-free mat

Well, it was back to watercolour for these lovely flowers. This week's challenge, with a paint group I belong to, was "the emergence of spring". A fellow artist provided a lovely photo of cute little hellebores. I tried to incorporate the many layers of earth and leaves around these wine purple beauties.

pepper pals

SOLD
8x8" original oil painting on 1" deep panel with painted sides.
I couldn't justify going shopping just to buy peppers for my still life so, I decided to make peppers out of Play-Doh! See pics below. ; )
Here's the sketch -
And here are my Play-Doh peppers.
I found free photo references of peppers on Pixabay and then changed the colours... of course.
It was wonderfully challenging to find the background colours in the glass bottles. The green bottle is one of my favourite still life objects.
I may have gotten a little colour happy!!!
 Detail of the cutie-patootie peppers.
 Until next time...

The light bouncing through these cutie-patootie raspberries was so cool that I decided to paint them first.

This cute purple crocus is one of many, popping up all over the place for spring. She's saying "Oh, virus... I thought you said Iris!" (Also, it was quite fun painting the sheer curtain!)

$120 - 8x10" original oil painting on 1" deep panel
I mixed hot pink and warm yellow paint together for the insides of the lemons. It encourages a kind of glow! And, I changed the pattern on the tin to little pink petals. : ) See the set up pic below. Stay well ya'll.
