The beautiful facade of the Royal Bank of Canada lives inside a building called Brookfield Place here in Toronto. The whole building is a gorgeous glass spectacle and I hope to go back and draw some more, again with the Toronto Urban Sketchers. My aim here was to add a few faces walking through the scene to add a feeling of height to the composition. $80 - 9x12"painting
During my train ride to the watercolour class I'm teaching, I used a thick Micron artist's pen. It's got a calligraphy nib which is notably fun to use, but conducive to the bumpy ride!
I was inspired by the Daily Paintworks Interiors Challenge for this one, which I drew while enjoying my morning tea. I usually ask for a little steamed milk with extra foam on my tea, just to jazz it up a bit. ; )
Another painting I finished over the weekend while out plein-air painting with a group of artist friends. I liked the idea of the big foreground and the subtle background pushing the viewer's eye from front to back. : )
Here's my Daily Paintworks Challenge for this week. Love drawing old trucks!! Such wonderful shapes and colours... well actually, they were both blue so I made one red. I also omitted the wire fence and I pulled the shadows into the foreground.
I really enjoyed painting these big bold roses. I named them after the summer we've had, bright and breezy. And now... I'm on vacation. See you in September.
