Inktober - Gargoyle, Scurry and Bouquet

 So far, I'm having a blast participating in Inktober 2022

For the month of October, artists are encouraged to do a daily drawing with ink.

By following the prompt list, I end up painting a lot of things I might not paint.

I'm using the Elegant Writer Pens by Speedball. They're watersoluble so, the dark ink bleeds as I add watercolour, a look I enjoy for this project.

I often walk by this little courtyard with it's lovely archway. It's so cute and the recent snowfall makes it more beautiful than ever. I love how the snow contrasts the little black gate, perfect for pen and watercolour.

One-Long-Line Drawings

I'm all prepared for the show tomorrow. I'll be selling my original watercolour paintings and my One-Long-Line Drawings. They are so fun to draw. I just keep my pen on the paper and let the line wander. 

This is my 7th year in the show. I love it! Come by my table on the main floor and say Hi.

Well, that's it for another Inktober. Working with the Elegant Writer Pen was an absolute joy. It's water-soluble nature made the dark colourful inks merge with the watercolour beautifully.

I'm having a blast with this new water-soluble pen that I've been using for Inktober (#inktober2018) It's called the Elegant Writer Pen and it releases green and a bit of pink ink when wet. You can see two videos of me painting it on Instagram.

Inktober Day 4 and 5... the fun continues! I spilled a spot of tea on my husky drawing, right on his little snout. Fortunately, the wash of watercolour hides it.

Billy Goat

I drew this with the awesome Elegant Writer Pen for Inktober Day One! With a touch of a wet brush, the pinks and greens in the black ink emerge and flow, with a mind of their own. I added a dash of pink to his nose. ; )

A day at the beach! I went plein-air painting with the Don Valley Art Club over the weekend. They've got lots of outdoor painting excursions planned so, I hope to attend many of them since painting with pals is such a treat. I added a little pen line to this piece to make sense of all the wonderful blues. : )

Well, Inktober Day 3 and the prompt word is poison! Since I'm on an animal kick I thought this spotted creature was a good choice. Careful... he's angry!

Well, Inktober 2017 is underway and the first day's prompt word is 'swift'. I think this little cutie charging through the flowers makes for a running start!

The Toronto Watercolour Society spent a day plein-air painting at the University of Toronto. Every old historic college has a beautiful hidden courtyard in the centre of it. We happily found this one with a lovely bunch of striking, and proud, red flowers.

I found some new cute finger puppets which I've named Tiggs and Elly. ; ) This is a continuation of a hand studies series I started some time ago. I'm happy to be back at it.

I've only got a few more days to capture the Cherry Blossom Trees. It's always a race against time during the two week blossoming of these gorgeous trees!

I love the look of a dark ink line when painting something light and delicate like a cherry blossom tree. It gives a nice strong contrast. Also, it came in handy when drawing the dog's hair. : )
