I painted this at my last Life Drawing Session at the Toronto School of Art. The sessions are mostly short poses, which allows me to play around and figure out what I want to achieve.

Very happy with how wet and drippy this one turned out. I love watercolours that look the way only a watercolour can look.

This is the second one I drew at the Art Gallery of Ontario last week. I'm very happy with the two pieces from that evening so I'll have to go back... perhaps next time it's raining.

Another great outing with the Toronto Plein-Air Group. We met up at City Hall and climbed the ramp for an aerial view.

 

You can see 'old' city hall in the background. I'm at 'new' city hall, (which really isn't new anymore.)

The Art Gallery of Ontario is here in Toronto and it's free on Wednesday nights. So, a bunch of us from the Toronto Urban Sketchers went over there. It's so much easier sketching in public with a group!

I couldn't wait until September to get back out there and paint! I cycled over to the University of Toronto's Knox College and painted in the beautiful courtyard today.

It's nice to have a touch of pattern in a painting. Even if it's painted loosely, like on this little cup, it's a lovely bit of decoration.

Lately I've been working with white objects, mostly flowers, for my daily paintings. The subtle values in the shadows of white are a real challenge. I like adding a strong colour, like the orange here, as a contrast.
