SWEET TREATS

$100
6x6" original oil painting on 1/4"deep panel. Artist quality supplies. Sides painted to match. Lightly varnished.

I loooove pink and red together. I also love these new 6x6" panels that I purchased. They are 1/4" thick, so they are nice and light. Also, the grain is very smooth and lovely to paint on. Thanks to Sarah Sedwick for an awesome still life set up.

CRISPY CRUNCH

SOLD
OIL - 8x8" original oil painting on 3/4"deep panel, with sides painted. There is already a wire for hanging on the back of this piece. It's ready to hang!

Ya' gotta' love a crisp apple! Or two... or seven. Painting a high angle viewpoint is always cool. Thanks to Sarah Sedwick for the awesome photo reference. They're great to have when I'm painting early in the morning and I don't have any fruit in the house. ; )

$120 - 6x6" oil painting on 3/4"panel

A little snack and a deep breath of fresh air. Ahh... summertime. It's time to sit down with a cup of tea and a crisp apple. And enjoy a painting of the same. ; ) Heehee.

I used a photo from the generous Sarah Sedwick again (thanks Sarah!) and I changed it again too. This time I added an extra apple slice instead of the creamer. The apples are one big happy family.

Lookin' into a tea cup from above! It was interesting to see all of these object from a new perspective - it kind of challenged the way I identify each object. I included my favourite little glass apple. #flaylay

stage whisper

This painting is now framed.
$100 - 8x10"watercolour painting I really enjoyed working in studio with this little set up! Red flowers are tough to do in watercolour, they can get a bit heavy and dead pretty quick if I'm not careful. Very pleased with this one. : )

just a little somethin'

SOLD
$60 - 5x7"painting with 8x10"mat
I looked into my 'still life objects cupboard' and thought, I'd just like to paint a little something. And this cute creamer with turquoise stripes jumped out at me. So, I added a simple fruit and a few flowers and enjoyed painting it.

I found this lovely red glass jug at a garage sale over the weekend. And tulips were on sale! Both of which encouraged me to paint larger.

I've always been curious about using black watercolour paint and when I saw Holbein's "peach black", it sounded so good I just had to try it. Turns out it's very similar to ivory black...

An apple a day

These three paintings, done about 6 years ago, were designed to go together, with the bottom one (with me) being the centre piece and the other two facing in towards it. Recently, the centre piece sold on it's own. I used a glazing technique with about 5 layers of watercolour from light to dark. I paint very differently now!

I stumbled across An Apple A Day art blog. They are collecting 365 paintings of apples, so I entered the top painting. IF YOU'VE GOT AN APPLE PAINTING, JOIN IN ON THE FUN!

rosy apple, apple rose

I enjoyed painting this for The RookiePainter's monthly challenge. There's no need to set up a still life because they supply the photo, so I can immediately concentrate on painting.

reflecting back

I enjoyed painting by candlelight so much last week (when I painted my halloween pumpkin) that I thought I'd try it again.
